We all know that packing can be a nightmare, but there are some tricks that can help you. It’s best to make a basic checklist that will help you better organize, such as the document checklist, and the essential checklist, so we will help you about the basic things you need to check when you travel.

DOCUMENT CHECKLIST

Everything you didn’t pack, you can buy, but not the documents. Document checklist includes all the documents you need for an international journey.

Passport -The most important thing you need to travel. You must bring a passport on any trip to a foreign country, and it will serve you as a personal document during your vacation. Double-check the expiration date. Be sure that your passport has travewithmario passport visanot expired and will not expire while traveling. Some countries may even deny entry if the expiration date is 3-6 months of the trip.

Visa – Depending on where you are traveling, a visa may be necessary. Visa checklist includes

  • Check the list of Visa-free countries
  • Check the list of the countries where a visa is required
  • Applying for a visa
  • Proof from your bank as a guarantee that you have sufficient funds
  • Check if you need a transit visa if you pass through another country on the way to your destination
  • A return ticket- some countries may deny entry if you do not have a return ticket

On the government website, you can find all the information about purchasing a travel visa, and how to apply for a visa.

Driver license– whether you are planning to travel by your car or you want to rent a car at the destination, check if you need an international driving license

Health and travel insurance – go on a trip with peace of mind

Tickets – boarding card, bus or train tickets, attractions tickets if you bought them online

Reservations – hotel reservations

Student card – If you are a student, this card can save you a lot of money, given that numerous attractions in the world offer discounts for students

The document checklist is the most important so be sure you have everything you need. We recommend that you copy the documents, especially the passport, in a few copies. Always keep a copy with you, and leave the original in a safe place at the hotel.

When you make your basic checklist, it’s important to include everything you think you might need, but do not overdo it. Always keep in mind: less is more.

The essential checklist should contain the following:

Suitcase – Think about it practically. You will walk a lot and in different terrain, so choose a wheeled bag. Roll stuff up in a suitcase for extra space and use even the smallest space (you can pack socks or accessories in your shoes).

Clothes – Check the weather conditions at the destination and accordingly choose the clothes, but basic checklist includes:

  • Jacket
  • Pants
  • Shirt
  • Sweater
  • T-shirts
  • Shorts
  • Underwear and socks
  • Pajamas
  • Swimwear

Footwear – There is one rule here. Bring the most comfortable.

  • Shoes
  • Slippers

Toiletries – Ask what cosmetics you get at the hotel, and bring it only necessary

  • Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Deodorant
  • Shampoo, soap, body wash (if you do not get them at the hotel)
  • Hand/face lotion
  • Sun cream

  • Antihistamines
  • Antidiarrhoeal
  • Ibuprofen / paracetamol
  • Antiseptic wipes

Accessories – small things that can be of great importance.

  • Sunglasses
  • Hat
  • Umbrella
  • Belt
  • Watch
  • Pen and paper (you never know when you will need it)

Gadgets – The best souvenir you can take from a trip are images, so make sure your phone or camera is always charged.

  • Mobile phone (be sure to have all the travel apps that can be of great help on the journey)
  • Camera and memory card
  • All chargers
  • Headphones (maybe you’ll need it on the noisy transport stations)
  • Adapters
  • Small tripod or selfie stick

Money – Before traveling, explore the prices at the destination and adjust your budget. Plan the amount of money you will spend on tickets, food, and transportation.

Never carry all your money with you. Keep a part of the money on the cards, and have a certain amount in cash. It is important to know that you should always bring some extra money, for unexpected situations.travelwithmario cash & card

  • Cash – You must always keep a certain amount of money in cash, for those places where you cannot use cards (bus tickets, street souvenirs, street maps, etc.)
  • Cards – It is often cheaper to pay with cards, so it’s good to ask how much ATM fees are at your chosen destination. Don’t forget to contact your banker to activate your cards for international purchases.

ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL CHECKLIST

Travel pillow – You will want one like this on long journeys

Water – Always, but always keep a bottle of water with you
